Crooked Island Fishing Adventures

Crooked Island is one of the most exciting fishing destinations in the Bahamas, offering flats fishing, inshore fishing, and deep sea fishing all of which are incredibly productive.  Over the past six years Carter Andrews, director of fishing at Pittstown Point, has spent many hours with the guides on the water exploring and trying newBird Rock Light House seen from Pittstown Point Landing, Crooked Island, Bahamas techniques to make your experience here on Crooked Island the best that it can be.  It also offers a lot of opportunities for the non-fisher as well.  There is a long history relating to Crooked Island dating back to Christopher Columbus.  Historical tours are just one of the many activities we offer.  The island has been a destination for private pilots, scuba divers, and beach combers for many years.  Pittstown Point Landings, a beach front hotel, accommodates the guests in twelve tropical rooms and delights in giving personalized attention.   The hotel is located on the picturesque north west corner of the island and looks out onto the beautiful Bird Rock Lighthouse, which was built in 1876.  There is also a  two thousand foot runway which makes Pittstown Point Landings ideal for private pilots as well as charter flights.  This is the place to be!!

Note from Carter:

As Heidi and I start to gear up for the season, I can not help but to reflect on last year.  Feeling fortunate to be able to be a part of the experiences I share with friends and guests here on Crooked Island.  In just a short period of time this has become one of the finest fishing destinations in the Bahamas.  Hearing the stories and participating in the catches that the rich waters around Crooked Island offer, keep me wondering what will happen next.  Bonefish, permit, and tarpon catches continue to increase as the flats guides strive to achieve new levels.  While Robbie and I were convinced that Sportfish "Thunderbird" had more in her than just tuna, dolphin and wahoo we set our sights on Blue Marlin.  Our catches far exceeded our expectations.  We released twenty Blue Marlin in 23 charters.  Fought and lost another half dozen, two of which were 600lbs or better.  Leaving in July to participate in a few tournaments in the States cut my Marlin time in half.  I do believe if I was able to finish out July and August we would have doubled our catch.  There is always this year!  We are anxious for the return of old guests and look forward to the company of our new guests.  Come pay us a visit.  I am sure you will not be disappointed.
